- 재구성된 일제강점기 역사교육을 통한 초등학생의 일본 인식 변화 연구 -
이 연구의 목적은 Sleeter와 Grant(2009)의 다문화 교육 접근법과 역사 수업 방법을 토대로 초등학교 일제강점기 교육과정을 재구성하여 학생들의 일본에 대한 인식이 어 떻게 변화하는지 알아보는 것이다. 이를 위하여 경기도 안산에 위치한 초등학교 5학년 학생 14명이 2020년 11월 23일부터 12월 24일까지 연구에 참여하였다. 연구 자료는 수 업 후 메모자료와 수업 활동 결과물, 소감문을 중심으로 수집하였으며, 학생 개별 면담 도 실시하였다. 자료 분석은 김영천(2016)의 포괄적 분석 절차를 통해 범주화하였다. 연구 결과를 살펴보면, 수업 초반 학생들은 역사 문제에 기인하여 일본에 대한 부정 적인 인식을 표출하였으나 수업이 진행될수록 일제강점기에 대한 시각이 넓어지며 일 본 사람들도 다 나쁜 것은 아니라는 것으로 생각이 변화하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 수업 후반 학생들은 제국주의 세력과 일본인 전체를 분리하려고 노력하였으며 일제강 점기에서 시작한 문제들이 현재에도 계속되는 것을 보며 인권과 평화를 위해 자신이 할 수 있는 일을 찾기 시작하였다. 본 연구는 역사 수업에 다문화교육 접근 방법이 어 떻게 구현될 수 있는지 실제적인 방안을 제시하며 학생들의 일본에 대한 인식 변화 과 정을 살펴보았다는 데 의의가 있다. 본 연구 결과에 근거하여 한일관계사에 대한 교육 자료 개발과 교과서에 세계사, 문화사, 생활사 내용이 첨가되어야 함을 제언하였다.
A Study of Elementary Students' Perception of Japan through Reconstructed History Education
The purpose of this study is to examine how students' perceptions of Japan change by reconstructing the elementary school curriculum during the Japanese colonial period based on the multicultural education approach of Sleeter and Grant(2009). For this purpose, 14 5th grade elementary school students located in Gyeonggi-do participated in the study from November 23 to December 24, 2020. Research data were collected during and after class and individual interviews were also conducted. At the beginning of the class, the students expressed negative perceptions about Japan due to the historical problem, but as the class progressed, the view of the Japanese colonial period broadened and students started to say that not all of Japanese were bad. At the end of the class, the students tried to separate the imperialist forces from the Japanese as a whole, and seeing the problems that started during the Japanese colonial period continue to these days, they began to find what they could do for human rights and peace. Based on the results of this study, it was suggested that the contents of world history, cultural history and life history should be added to textbooks and development of educational materials on the history of Korea-Japan relations.
