The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics of racial and cultural identity development of Uzbekistan Koryo-Saram married immigrant women and to solve problems related to identity that appear in the development process through multicultural counseling. Therefore, this study will provide important implications for multicultural counseling. The participants of this study were 4 Uzbekistan Koryo-Saram married immigrant women in their 30s who worked as bilingual instructors in Korea. This study interviewed those women with research method as a life history, and then reconstructed their life histories into 5 stages and 4 attitudes based on the racial and cultural identity development model(RCID) (Sue et al., 2019) as a theoretical background. The study’s results are as follows: first, those women’s racial and cultural identities were multifaceted, multi-layered, and non-linear. Rather than saying that their identities are developed sequentially according to the RCID model, they simultaneously have identities in almost all five stages. And those women strategically used their various identities according to the individual's social relationship or situational context. Second, counselor's ethnicity and specific counseling approach strategy should be considered according to these developmental characteristics. This study will contribute to the development of the identity theory and multicultural counseling model.
